ABOUT US
How It All Began
Tin Trousers was created in its original form in 2005 shortly after marrying into the Royal Navy. Originally known as Erin Military Tailoring, I started providing striping up and alterations to uniforms working from the spare bedroom in our married quarter. It wasn't long until a growing family forced a move out of the home and into HMS Nelson Wardroom to run their Second Hand Uniform Store, known in RN circles as both "The Deadman's Chest", or Tin Trousers! In February 2022 Tin Trousers moved into our current home, TTHQ, Gosport where our experienced team of tailors work each weekday. Over the last 18 years TT has grown beyond anything I could have dreamed of originally, and is continuing to go from strength to strength with a growing team of tailors to help keep the standards high and get your uniforms back to you as quickly as possible. We are now available on various sites across the Solent Area, and provide tailoring clinics in other areas as needed too. (Details are all below) In 2023 we have expanded to include our new Contract Tailoring arm, Square Rig Tailoring, providing on site tailoring across the Solent area, including working on RN Ceremonial Events, as well as visiting Portsmouth Area stores on a weekly basis to provide Fit and Measure services for new uniforms. Sadly, after completing one whole year of contract tailoring, we were unable to make it financially viable for our skilled tailors to complete to a standard we were happy with, so we chose to remove our services on these sites. We strive to provide a high standard of workmanship and only use traditional methods and materials to provide our Armed and Uniformed Services uniforms worthy of their high standards.
