Over the last few years I have noticed an increase medals coming in to be mounted which need a really deep clean, or have been damaged due to being badly mounted previously or by over zealous polishing.
Medals are delicate, and need to be treated with care and consideration. I have included a page here to give pointers on how to keep your medals in top condition. You dont need anything particularly special to keep them untarnished, in fact provided you keep them in a dry place you should be able to just buff them to a shine with a soft cloth, any dirt build up can also be removed easily by rubbing the surface with something like bluetac to pull the dirt from between the details. Please DO NOT use an abrasive such as Brasso.
Should your medals need a deeper clean, please get in touch, as I now offer a medal cleaning service, treating your medals with care to get them back to their shiny best. Some examples of medal cleaning I have done recently are below.
